Sacramento Area

Alpine Juniors

Members: 150.
Focus: Children 8 through 12. Adult supervision and instructors provided.
Trips: 20 - every Saturday and Sunday starting in January.
Fees:  includes transportation, lift ticket, supervision and instruction. Equipment available at a discounted rate.

Ebony Ski & Racquet Club

Members: 80.
Trips: Weekend visits to Tahoe and Colorado. European trips every couple of years.
Focus: Primarily African American, but open to all, especially people of color.

Fagowees

Members: 100.
Trips: Racing and social trips in the Sierra and Rockies. Mammoth Mountain excursion later in the season. Meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month in Sacramento for social activities.
Focus: Year-round ski club and social club, open to ages 21 and above, but membership is generally 40s and up.
Fees: Annual membership required.

49ers Ski Club

Members: 123.
Focus: Minimum age is 49. Biking and kayaking, hiking and going out to lunch during the non-ski season.
Trips: Most activities take place during the middle of the week, making it ideal for retirees or those with flexible schedules.
Fee: Initiation fee required; membership confirmed after a one-season probation period. New members must be sponsored.

Freestylers Ski Club

Members: 20.
Trips: No trips.
Focus: Members join the club for access to the club's lodge in Tahoe City, where members can stay as often as they like, November to May.
Fees: Fee for six months, includes key to the lodge's front door.

Nisei Ski Club

Members: 220.
Trips: Ski excursions on weekends, usually to two resorts. Costs vary but include two dinners and two breakfasts, lodging and lift tickets. Also, an annual weeklong trip, this year to Steamboat Springs, Colo. Hiking, biking and other year-round activities.
Focus: 21 and over, predominantly Japanese American and Chinese American, but open to all.
Fees: Yearly fee.

SAGA-North Ski and Snowboard Club

Members: 150, in the Bay Area and Sacramento.
Trips: Three or four one-day bus excursions and five or six weekend trips to Tahoe resorts, and four out-of-state trips. Summer and social events as well.
Focus: Gay men and lesbians
Fees: Yearly fee required. Bus trips, which include food and a lift ticket, are about $100. Non-members are welcome.

Ski and Snowboard Club at Sac State  

Members: 240.
Trips: Whenever people want to go, usually Thursday-Sunday.
Focus: "People who love to ski and snowboard."
Fees:  Students fee and non-student fee required. Members may stay at the club's lodge for a night for a small fee.

Snowdrifters

Members: 100.
Focus: Teens with supervision. Instruction optional.
Trips: 20 - every Saturday and Sunday starting in January.
Fees: Per trip fee, includes transportation, youth lift ticket, supervision. Instruction is optional, and costs $70 for four lessons. Equipment is available at a discount.

UC Davis Ski or Snowboard Club

Members: 500.
Trips: One out-of-state trip, plus a cabin trip every weekend during winter quarter.
Focus: Students primarily but all are welcome.
Fees:  Annual fee required; members get many discounts around the area, including a cheap stay rate at the cabin.

Winterset

Members: 200 to 250.
Focus: Adults.
Trips: Wednesday trips to Tahoe ski resorts. Also have trips to other out of state and international resorts
Fees: Costs vary.  Fee per day trip, includes transportation, adult lift ticket, snacks on the bus. Group guides and instruction are available at additional cost. Equipment rental discounts.
